Subject: Susan Haack on Science, Proof, and Truth in the Law
Attachments: Evidence Matters-Flyer.pdf

Cambridge University Press has just published
Evidence Matters: Science, Proof, and Truth in the Law, a collection of valuable essays by Susan Haack, Distinguished Professor in  the Humanities, Cooper Senior Scholar in Arts and Sciences, Professor of Philosophy and Professor of Law at the University of Miami.  The clearly written and well-organized essays greatly clarify the the nature and proper use of scientific evidence, especially statistical probabilities, when attempting to prove general and specific causation in the law.  If I taught Evidence, I would require my students to read this book, and I will rely on it in my courses and writings on tort law and practice.  Hopefully, Cambridge University Press will make it available at a discount to readers on these lists.  - RWW.
